Late Magic Gets Vancouver 6-4 Win
|
The 6-4 Vancouver win over Ft. Worth was due in large part to Gerald Riley. The Grey Wolves first baseman was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3. The winner in relief was Ernie Jones. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. Vancouver is 8th in the Silver League with a record of 14-19.
Vancouver used the timely hitting of Lyonya Wanyushin to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grey Wolves on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Riley told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
