Baby Lakers Beat Gators, 3-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Bompton Baby Lakers and North Ft. Myers Gators.
Bompton picked up a win at Field of the Browns, toppling the North Ft. Myers Gators, 3-1. Pitcher Julius Angrenny was one of the reasons the Baby Lakers triumphed. The winner was Bompton reliever Jonathan Alexander, now 1-0. The loser was Tony Rodríguez.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman José Peña came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing North Ft. Myers pitcher Tony Rodríguez, he hit a 1-2 cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Bompton on top, 3-1.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Peña told the Bompton Daily News.
The loss has the Gators at 0-3.
