In a low-scoring contest, Hollywood pitcher Van Hileman was marvelous in his team's 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Hileman, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Tom DeHart nailed down his 1st save.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Shredders had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when catcher José Altagracia hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Claudio Gonzáles and made the score 2-1, Shredders. Altagracia went 2-3 with a double.

"This was a tough loss," said Greenville manager John Bosma. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."

The defending champion Shredders are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 5th win in 14 games.
