Zoomies Need Extra Innings to Top Shockers, 3-2
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Terriers Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2050 USSL Low A season. On the mound was Héctor Salas for the visiting Surprise Shockers and Gunnar Quinn for the hometown Shady Side Zoomies. In a spirited contest, the Zoomies pulled out the win, defeating the Shockers by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Héctor Salas. Cristo Bermúdez snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season.
The Zoomies relied on shortstop Christian McIntosh for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring double to seal the deal.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," McIntosh said.
