A 4-RBI performance from the 19-year old shortstop Ernesto Garza helped the Greenport Harbor Whales beat the Redwood Rhinos, 6-3. Ramón Álvarez got the win, improving to 3-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Alfredo Maldonado finished the game for Greenport and earned his 8th save.

Early in the game, Garza had a 3-run home run for Greenport. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Harbor Whales on top, 3-0.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Garza told reporters after the game.

Today's win puts Greenport at 18-15, while Redwood falls to 10-23.
