Vandals Lose Late, 4-1
|
The Chicago Tula topped the Eugene Vandals by a score of 4-1. Leading the way was designated hitter Germán Salazar. Salazar went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Tula. Chicago reliever Cameron Davies picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Sjaak Kiene shouldered the loss. Jesús Rosas finished to wrap up his 18th save.
Komaki Alevina drew 1 walk for Chicago. In the bottom of the eighth, with the teams deadlocked, 1-1, Alevina delivered for the Tula. His run-scoring ground out put Chicago on top, 2-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Alevina told the Chicago Citizen.
Chicago now sits at 36-38, while Eugene falls to 16-58.
