Myrtle Beach got a first-rate effort from pitcher José Benítez, who frustrated Eugene hitters en route to a 1-0 Seahawks triumph at Seahwaks Stadium. The slumping Vandals have dropped 8 in a row.
The Vandals had little chance against Benítez, who overpowered Eugene hitters and struck out 11.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Myrtle Beach manager Kyle Myers said.
