Hounds Take Down Crossbeaus, 4-3
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Hound Pound, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2050 USPL Low A season. On the mound was Zosimo Pavlakakis for the visiting Beaumont Crossbeaus and César Romero for the hometown Hicksville Hounds. In a spirited contest, the Hounds pulled out the win, defeating the Crossbeaus by the score of 4-3. Especially impressive was Zosimo Pavlakakis.
Had Franck Terwey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Terwey hit a grand slam home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Hounds.
"We've got great fans," said Terwey. "I hope they got what they came for."
