Lakers Win, 6-5, at Long Island
|
Long Island got a decent performance from pitcher Mike Bennett, but it wasn't enough to beat the Echo Park Lakers. Echo Park won the The Lighthouse contest, 6-5. Bennett threw 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. Danny Kas collected save number 2. The loss drops the Lighthouse to 8-8.
Jochen Nelis chipped in for Echo Park, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the shortstop was 2-5 with a double, while scoring 2 runs.
"It was our day today," Nelis told the Echo Park Herald. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
