Jets Prevail, 3-2, Over Yucca Valley
|
Kennesaw beat Yucca Valley at Jets Stadium, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to catcher Martin Green. He went 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles. The winner was Henry Boaden in relief. His record improves to 1-8. Sjaak Est took the loss. Ming Wang closed it out for his 3rd save.
The Yellows had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Jets going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old first baseman José Villanueva came to the plate. Villanueva hit a 2-run home run on a full count curveball from Yucca Valley hurler Sjaak Est. It was Villanueva's 5th home run of the year.
"I was a little disappointed," said Yucca Valley manager Pat Carrasco. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
With the win, Kennesaw is 14-79.
