The South Beach Blaze topped the Kingston Mangos, 8-3, the lion's share of the credit going to catcher Leon Wright. On the day, Wright went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Blaze. Gary Smith earned the win for South Beach. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 11-2. The save went to Jerry Gordon, number 2 for him.

A key moment came in the bottom of the fifth inning when Blaze left fielder Koji Sugisata socked a 2-2 curveball to center for a run-scoring single, putting South Beach up, 4-3.

Sugisata said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."

South Beach is now 63-29, 3 games up in the Silver A.
