Tight Tilt Goes to Reapers, 3-2
|
The Grim Reapers faced a tough opponent in South Beach pitcher Gustavo Carrillo, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Coffin by a final score of 3-2. Carrillo went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Lee Fortescue earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 3-2. Albert Silver was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities.
In the bottom of the fifth, José Sánchez delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Grim second baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Reapers in front, 3-2.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sánchez said.
The Reapers sport a record of 33-52.
