Grim beat Matlacha at The Coffin, escaping with a 3-2 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Hanskarl Hümmel. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Randy Crane earned the win for Grim. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-7. Earning the save was Albert Silver. He's now cashed in 2 of 3 save opportunities.
With Grim leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Hümmel hit a run-scoring single off Matlacha hurler Lawrence Anderson. It was the 96th hit of the season for Hümmel and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Grim manager Terrence Eler said.
With the win, the Reapers improved to 30-50.
