Martínez Lays Hammer Down in 7-1 Win
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Eugene had no answer for Lake Erie Arryns hurler Luis Martínez, who overwhelmed Vandals hitters as the Arryns coasted to victory, 7-1. For Eugene, now 2-11, the season is off to a dismal start.
Martínez, a native of Dallas, Texas, was dealing all game. He kept Eugene hitters off-balance, while giving the Arryns 8.1 quality innings. Martínez threw 118 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 10.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Eugene manager Aaron Barnes.
