Laredo Stymied by Idaho Falls, 2-1

The Idaho Falls Chukars got a stellar performance from pitcher Chang-ho Kim, who handcuffed the Laredo offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Hawks Field. Frank Smith earned the save, his 1st. After losing, Laredo is 7-6.
Idaho Falls used the bat of Chris Thompson to capture the win. The right fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Chukars ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Afterward, Chukars manager Fernando Mendoza was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
