Laredo got a strong outing from Kevin Ashe as the Hawks defeated the Eugene Vandals, 2-1, at The Riot Zone. The winner in relief was José Hernández. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Silvian Esser recorded the save, his 3rd.
Jim Willis hit a solo home run off Roberto Saldaña in the top of the tenth, which put the Hawks ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Willis had 1 single and 1 double, while going 3 for 5.
"This game tested our mettle," said Willis.
The win moves Laredo to a record of 3-4.
