Hobeaus Rally to Beat Tula, 4-2
|
The Chicago Tula got a superb performance from pitcher Stanton Maxwell. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Smoky Mountain. The Hobeaus won the game, 4-2. Maxwell threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Alex Thompson got the save, the 3rd for him this season. With their winning streak at 4, the Hobeaus have raced to a strong start this season.
Smoky Mountain used the timely hitting of Lyndon Tipton to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hobeaus on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Tipton called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
