Lake Erie center fielder John Dye was sensational. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Myrtle Beach beat the Arryns, 8-7. Myrtle Beach goes to 2-0.

In the bottom of the ninth, Jorge Villarreal had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring sacrifice fly to center off Lake Erie pitcher Shigetoki Kato.
