New Orleans center fielder Francisco De La Cruz had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. De La Cruz went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times, even as Greenville beat the Voodoo, 5-4. The win was credited to Brian Boggs in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Tim Strong took the loss. The 84s, at 63-39, sit in second place in the Premier League.
El Paso, Texas-born August Force came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the 84s trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Greenville on top.
In postgame comments to the Greenville Times, Force said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
