Thunder Hawks Curb Fighting Imps, 6-5
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks had to overcome a big game from Ithaca second baseman Bob Bray to leave Thunder Hawks Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 6-5. Bray was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Valentín Jiménez was credited with the save for Ft. Polk South, his 6th of the season. With the victory, the Thunder Hawks record now stands at 30-41.
The Thunder Hawks got an important contribution from second baseman Orlando Cochón, who in the bottom of the third hit a forkball into right-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 15th double of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 5-3.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Ithaca manager Gary Thomas. "But we decided not to take it."
