Athletic Club KC Academy Pull Even With 5-3 Victory
The Athletic Club KC Academy topped the Richland Rails, 5-3, in USPL Double A action at Rails Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Athletic Club KC Academy pitcher and Princess Quarter, Sint Maarten, native Gerrit Lock. Lock, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Jessy Werther collected save number 6.

The Rails had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Athletic Club KC Academy going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old third baseman Julián Morcuendez came to the plate. Morcuendez hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Richland hurler Timo Reinhardt. It was Morcuendez's 1st home run of the year.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Morcuendez, "and go after the next one."

The 5th-place Athletic Club KC Academy are now 34-34, the Rails 23-45.
