The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis defeated the Olympia Ogres, 5-3, at Mariachi Band Shell. Nuevo Mexico third baseman Rubén Cervantes had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Alan Mytton. He tossed 104 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Francisco Pacheco collected his 17th save.
Cervantes contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Nuevo Mexico get the win.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Nuevo Mexico skipper Kyle Bass. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
The Mariachis sit in 9th place in the Premier AA with a record of 28-40.
