Whales Double Up Fighting Imps, 4-2
|
The Virginia Beach Whales dealt the Ithaca Fighting Imps a 4-2 loss at Virginia Beach Grounds. Terry Valdéz was the star on offense. He went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Kelsey Conrad picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Jesús Moreno took the loss. José Hernández earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 3rd of the year.
Valdéz came through with some timely hitting for Virginia Beach. With Ithaca trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Valdéz hit a 0-2 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season made it 4-2, Virginia Beach.
"We did enough to win," said Valdéz.
Virginia Beach is 4th in the Premier AA with a record of 31-26.
