Fighting Imps Lose to Whales in Walk Off
|
The Virginia Beach Whales knocked off the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 7-5, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Ragnar Nasman was a big reason Virginia Beach won. The pinch hitter was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Virginia Beach pitcher Gavriil Wolfson got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mario Méndez got the loss. Virginia Beach has a record of 30-26, placing them 4th in the Premier AA.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Virginia Beach trailing 5-3, Nasman hit a fastball from Mario Méndez for a grand slam home run, giving the Whales the walk-off win.
"This place sure got loud," said Domingo García, the Virginia Beach manager.
