Virginia Beach starter Robert Joubert pitched well against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mariachi Band Shell. The left-hander led his team to a win, 7-1. Joubert, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. With the win, Virginia Beach goes to 27-24, while the Mariachis fall to 21-30.
In the top of the fourth, with Virginia Beach leading 2-1, shortstop Mibre Chipley hit a run-scoring single. The hit came off Torvald Bogermans and put the Whales ahead, 3-1.
