Whales Saddle Guinea Pigs with 7-4 Loss
Bob Hargrove had a good game, but he could not keep the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs from falling, 7-4, to the Virginia Beach Whales at Experimental Stadium. The Gwinnett second baseman went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the loss. The Whales raised their record to 18-21.

Mibre Chipley hit a bases-clearing triple off Alan Gilbert in the top of the seventh, which put the Whales in front, 4-2. Chipley had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Chipley told the Virginia Beach Daily.
