Turbeaus Pick Up 2-1 Win Over Virginia Beach
|
In a well-pitched game between the Gulf Coast Turbeaus and the Virginia Beach Whales, pitcher Zosimo Pavlakakis was superb. The Gulf Coast right-hander helped his team win, 2-1. Pavlakakis picked up the win for Gulf Coast, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-3. With this game in the books, Gulf Coast is 19-17, Virginia Beach 17-19.
Had José Labandeira not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Labandeira hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Turbeaus.
"We did just enough to win," Labandeira said.
