The Virginia Beach Whales got a magnificent performance from pitcher Shawn Walker, who muffled the Crescent City offense en route to a tight 2-0 Whales win at Field of the Krewe. Walker, now 1-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Whales move to 12-15 with the win, while the Krewe drop to 15-12.

Virginia Beach used the bat of Jesús Fernández to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Whales ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Fernández told the Virginia Beach Daily.
