The Richland Rails defeated the Crescent City Krewe, 6-3, in USPL Double A action at Field of the Krewe. Richland pitcher Elroy Mastenbroek had a standout performance. Mastenbroek, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Juan Trujillo earned the save for Richland, his 3rd.
Clancy Dean was a prime contributor to the Richland win. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. In the top of the seventh with one out, the 25-year old left fielder hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 3-1, in favor of the Rails.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Dean.
The win leaves Richland with a record of 4-4.
