The Bethesda Atoms got a magnificent performance from pitcher Ron Mora, who muffled the Barton Springs offense en route to a tight 2-1 Atoms win at Blues Field. Mora went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-6. Paul Glover closed the game out for Bethesda, earning his 2nd save.
Bethesda used a well-timed hit by Tracy Collins to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Bethesda manager Ted Hansen said.
The Atoms raised their record to 25-68.
