Screaming Eagles Reel Off Another Win
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles topped the Providence Pilgrims, 3-2, in USSL Double A action at Mercer Island Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Mercer Island pitcher and San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, native Jorge Enríquez. Enríquez got the win, improving to 11-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Enríquez allowed 2 runs. Connor Wilson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 10 save opportunities.
Máximo Zubiete aided the Mercer Island cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Providence skipper Terry King, "and it cost us."
Mercer Island leads the Silver AA by 7 games.
