The Squirrel Hill Pierogis picked up a win at Field of the Rawhides, knocking off the Minnesota Loons, 6-1. Starting pitcher Gustaf Steur played a key role in the triumph. Steur got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Steur allowed no runs. Squirrel Hill is in third place in the Silver AA with a record of 50-37.

The Pierogis got an important contribution from second baseman Chris Jones, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 0-1 cutter into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Pierogis ahead, 4-0.
