Fen Excels, But Thunder Win
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Heng-zong Fen, the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats lost to the St. Petersburg Thunder, 14-9. Fen went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Alfredo Flores. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. Shusui Suzuki nailed down his 2nd save.

Orlando Ugía put St. Petersburg in front, 11-1, when he took Bennett Whitley downtown. His 3-run home run came with one out in the bottom of the third. It was his 12th home run of the season.

"This game had a little bit of everything," said Ugía.

St. Petersburg is now 40-46.
