The Pine Island Dolphins overcame a fine performance by Mercer Island third baseman Raúl Gutiérrez to defeat the Screaming Eagles, 7-6, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Gutiérrez was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Joe Horne nailed down his 9th save. After today's action, Pine Island sits at 46-28; Mercer Island slips to 51-23.

The Dolphins got a big boost from right fielder Ziad Fakhir who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning off Screaming Eagles hurler César Pinto. It was his 20th RBI of the season and put Pine Island on top, 5-4.

"I still think this team can play even better," Fakhir told the Pine Island Citizen.
