The St. Petersburg Thunder and Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Chesapeake rode a fine outing from starter Gilbert Owen to victory over the St. Petersburg Thunder at Baby Thunder Dome. The final score was 5-1. Owen went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-3.
Won-sub Chong had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for Chesapeake. He came through with a 2-run home run to put Chesapeake in front, 4-1.
"I know we have our doubters," said St. Petersburg manager Emílio Sáenz. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Cangrejos Fantasmas sport a record of 27-44.
