The Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the St. Petersburg Thunder, 4-3, in USSL Double A action at Baby Thunder Dome. The game was highlighted by the performance of Squirrel Hill pitcher Clayton Thomas. Martin Lumley locked down his 1st save. Squirrel Hill is now 40-20, while St. Petersburg is 25-35.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Pierogis had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the second, when shortstop Albert Martínez hit a 2-run single. The single came off Colm Broomfield and made the score 2-0, Pierogis. Martínez went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"We've got a great group of guys," Martínez said, "and we're having fun right now."
