Pierogis Deal Thunder 6-5 Loss
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis beat the St. Petersburg Thunder, 6-5, at Field of the Rawhides. Squirrel Hill shortstop Albert Martínez had an outstanding performance. He was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. The win elevated the Pierogis to 27-11.

In the bottom of the tenth, Alfonso Chávez had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring walk to center off St. Petersburg pitcher Shusui Suzuki.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Martínez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
