The St. Petersburg Thunder got a superb performance from pitcher Colm Broomfield, but the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas still won the game, 5-3. Broomfield threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Eduardo Rivera got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Chesapeake is now 1-8.
Rafael Suarez took Noah Keyte deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 5-3. In all, Suarez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chesapeake manager Dave Everett. "It's usually not just one thing."
