In a tight game between the Minnesota Loons and the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, pitcher Alberto Nieves was terrific on the mound. The Minnesota right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Minnesota reliever Henny Olthuis was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Stuart Fossett. After losing, Mercer Island is 5-1.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Minnesota trailing 1-0, Gianni Schaar jumped on a 2-0 fastball from Stuart Fossett for a 2-run home run, sending the Loons to a walk-off win.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Minnesota manager Eddie O'Bryan.
