Voodoo Deal Rainbow Mermaids 4-2 Loss
Voodoo designated hitter Obke Veenman put his stamp on his team's 4-2 win over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Veenman was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for New Orleans in the contest. Marty Taylor, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held the Rainbow Mermaids to no runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Tim Strong closed it out for his 16th save.

With New Orleans leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Veenman hit a changeup from Chuck Spadina for a solo home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Voodoo ahead, 2-0.

"I felt we were ready to go," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims. "Our pregame was pretty good."

With the win, New Orleans raised its record to 42-37.
