Elite Take Down Coeur, 1-0
|
The St. Louis Coeur wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Jon Curtis, falling 1-0 to the Detroit Elite at The BFIB. Jim Hicks got the save, his 27th in 29 chances. Detroit is 6th in the Third League with a record of 51-53.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Karel van Capelle to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Elite on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
van Capelle called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
