Northern Lions BC Defeat Bowties, 8-5
|
Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC starter Ralph Hanscombe pitched a strong game against the Buckhead Bowties at Great Northern Field, leading the Northern Lions BC to victory, 8-5. Hanscombe, now 8-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Northern Lions BC now have a mark of 42-54.
The Northern Lions BC got an important contribution from third baseman Alex Joly, who in the bottom of the second hit a cutter into left for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Northern Lions BC ahead, 3-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Joly told a Thunder Bay News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
