The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Charleston Armory, knocking off the Oakland Oaks, 2-1. Starting pitcher Paul Haines played a key role in the triumph. Haines, now 6-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. James Tucker earned save number 20 this season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Layton Arntsen delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the Charleston catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Battery in front, 2-1.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt.

The triumph puts Charleston at 40-36 for the season.
