Rainbow Mermaids Snag 7-4 Win
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took San Mateo pitcher Yin-reng Fong's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Lang Park. The final score had Northern Virginia getting past the Dirty Reds, 7-4. Fong went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 10. Javier Ariza was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Juan Valseca earned the save, his 17th, for the Rainbow Mermaids.

Ernesto Valenzuela broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the eighth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Rainbow Mermaids in front, 5-4. For the game, Valenzuela drove in one run.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Valenzuela. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The Rainbow Mermaids now own a record of 28-33.
