Dirty Reds Stumble, Lose to Voodoo
Despite a great performance by San Mateo catcher José Avilés, the New Orleans Voodoo defeated the Dirty Reds by the score of 8-4 at The Voodoo Lounge. Avilés was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Huibert Illidge picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-2. He struck out 6 in 8 innings. The third-place Voodoo have a record of 30-29.

New Orleans took a 7-4 lead on Francisco De La Cruz's 7th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off San Mateo pitcher Michael Donovan in the bottom of the seventh.

De La Cruz told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
