The 3-0 Bakersfield win over Hartford was due in large part to Charles Barnes. The Nobles first baseman went 3-4 with 3 singles. Earning his 1st save for Bakersfield was Bertrand Scotton. After today's action, Bakersfield sits at 53-32, while Hartford falls to 40-45.

The Pride had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Nobles going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old left fielder Ángel Torrez came to the plate. Torrez hit a run-scoring double on a 2-0 fastball from Hartford hurler Lando de Ruijter. It was Torrez's 5th double of the year.

Barnes told a Bakersfield Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
