The bats were silent much of the day at Pennsauken Park. But Gene Haber conjured up just enough offense to carry the Drummers past the Pennsauken Flyers, 3-2. Haber was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Khoury Abdul-Rahim got credit for the win, improving to 4-8. He allowed 1 run on 9 hits in 5.1 innings. Apaghana Shachi closed the door for Tortolita, picking up his 6th save of the year.
In the top of the third, with the game still scoreless, Haber hit a 3-run home run to put his team in the lead.
Afterward, Drummers manager Barrett Abbott was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Drummers improve their record to 40-35 with the win over Pennsauken.
