2-1 Loss Extends Ft. Myers Losing Streak
|
The Monongahela Monsters did just enough to secure a victory over the Ft. Myers Marlins, 2-1, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Bhu Pahayahay. Gerald Currer was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 12 save opportunities. This loss makes it 10 in a row for Ft. Myers.
Had Dave Montés not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Montés hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Monsters.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero. "Our pregame was pretty good."
