Flyers Stick Drummers with 5-2 Loss
|
The Pennsauken Flyers topped the Tortolita Drummers, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Pennsauken Park. The standout performance belonged to Pennsauken pitcher and Garfield, New Jersey, native Tony Modlin. The winning pitcher was Modlin, now 3-5. He tossed 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Pennsauken currently is in 9th place in the Silver AAA at 22-31.
Mike Phillips, who is tied for 5th in the SAAA in bases on balls with 26, aided the Pennsauken cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder drew 2 walk in 5 plate appearances.
Modlin told the Pennsauken Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
