Golden Cranes Sink Marlins, 2-1
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes got a magnificent effort from pitcher Brad Duncan, who kept Ft. Myers hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Golden Cranes win at Crane Field. Duncan, now 7-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. After today's action, Santa Barbara sits at 25-28; Ft. Myers slips to 22-31.
The Marlins had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Golden Cranes going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Emery MacColl came to the plate. MacColl hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Ft. Myers hurler Billy Hansen. It was MacColl's 3rd home run of the year.
"We had a good game plan," Duncan said, "and we were able to execute it."
